About Avenue Counseling
Avenue Counseling, PLLC is a North Carolina-based clinical mental health counseling practice dedicated to providing compassionate, professional support for teens and adults. Founded by Michelle Hanley, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, the practice is built on the belief that everyone deserves a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore their challenges and discover their path forward. Michelle specializes in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed.
The approach is deeply client-centered and individualized, drawing from Gestalt foundations and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Michelle believes in creating meaningful therapeutic relationships where you can identify patterns, develop purposeful goals, and create lasting change. Through telehealth counseling, she brings professional mental health support directly to you, wherever you are on your journey.

Telehealth Counseling
Access compassionate counseling from the comfort of your home, making therapy more flexible for your lifestyle. Michelle’s telehealth services maintain the quality and confidentiality as felt with in-person sessions. Personalized one-on-one counseling sessions are tailored to your unique needs, whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions.

EMDR Based Therapy
Experience evidence-based trauma therapy using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Michelle is EMDR-trained and pursuing full EMDR credentialing to help you process past and ongoing trauma, reduce emotional distress, and move forward with greater peace and resilience.

Individual Therapy Intensives
Michelle is developing Therapy Intensives designed for clients who may benefit from a more concentrated period of therapeutic work. Intensives may range from approximately 3–6 hours and may be structured across one to three days, depending on the individual’s needs and treatment goals.
